Best known as the middle voice of the violin family, the viola is a bowed string instrument

The viola has a full bodied and deeper sound compared to the violin and is widely used for harmony within most genres of music, as well as for solo performances.

The cello is a member of the strings family and is often played as a solo instrument in chamber and orchestral, serving both as a melodic and bass musical instrument.

The viola is slightly larger than the violin and, like the violin, the sound is produced by drawing the bow across one of the four strings or by plucking the string with a finger. The main difference between the violin and the viola is to do with the size and pitch, with the viola tone having a deep quality that is warm and veiled while its high notes are bright. In addition the strings used on a viola are thicker than those used on the violin and therefore there is a requirement for additional finger and bow pressure when playing.
